Can Cadillac EVs Use a Tesla Supercharger?

Cadillac EV Using Tesla Supercharger

Switching to an all-electric Cadillac has never been easier. With more Cadillac EV models available each year and expanding charging infrastructure across the country, more Menomonee Falls drivers are casting aside their gas-powered models for an innovative, luxury Cadillac EV experience. However, before embarking on their Hartford travels, many drivers are curious: Can Cadillac EVs use Tesla Supercharger stations? Learn more about Cadillac Supercharger compatibility with this guide from Heiser Cadillac.

CCS Connectors vs. NACS Connectors

Electric vehicle technology is constantly evolving, and that includes charging solutions. Two main charging ports are available in modern vehicles: the SAE Combined Charging System (CCS) and the North American Charging Standard (NACS). See the differences between these two charging systems below:

  • CCS Connectors: CCS connectors allow drivers to access Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Charging (Level 3) all within the same port. The only difference is that, to access DC Fast Charging, these connectors must have two additional bottom pins.
  • NACS Connectors: NACS connectors can also access all charging levels, but are currently only used by Tesla. Due to this exclusive usage, any vehicle with an NACS connector is limited to Tesla or Tesla-related charging products.

While Cadillac EVs, like the LYRIQ, come standard with the widely used CCS connector, Tesla Supercharger stations only provide NACS charging cords. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t utilize the Tesla Supercharger stations on your Grafton drives. With the available Cadillac NACS adapter, you can charge your Cadillac OPTIQ at any Tesla Supercharger in the nation.
